Former Premier12, Olympic Qualifier coach Carlos Ferrer to manage Puerto Rico Women's National Baseball Team

The former star hitter served under manager Igor Gonzalez in 2019 and 2021.

The Puerto Rican Baseball Federation has named Carlos Ferrer as its Women's National Team manager.

"Carlos Ferrer has all the necessary qualities to take on the responsibility of leading the Women's National Baseball Team," commented José Daniel Quiles Rosas, the president of the Puerto Rican Baseball Federation. "He had the privilege of defending the colours of Puerto Rico in different roles and has always performed with respect, integrity and national pride."

A former star hitter in the Puerto Rican Double-A league, Ferrer represented his country in the 1980 World Cup.

He had a 30-year career as a coach. He managed Puerto Rico to gold in the Central American and Caribbean Games 2002.

Ferrer served under manager Juan Gonzalez as the first base coach during the WBSC Premier12 2019 and as the third base coach during the WBSC Americas Olympic Qualifier.
