The newest member of the Red Sox pitched for the Japanese National Team at the 2015 WBSC Premier12.

Multiple media reports suggest that the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB) have reached an agreement with Japanese right-handed pitcher Hirokazu Sawamura. The two-year deal is worth a reported US$ 2.4 million deal, plus potential incentives.

The reliever had a rough first half of the season last year, with Tokyo's Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). After being demoted to the minors, he was traded to the Chiba Lotte Marines.
