Four Nations women’s softball tournament to be played in Vienna, Austria, on 21-22 May

World No. 28 Croatia, host and No. 29 Austria, No. 37 Slovakia and No. 45 Hungary will face off at Ballpark Spenadlwiese in Vienna.

The WBSC-sanctioned Four Nations women’s softball tournament between No. 28 Croatia (senior and U-22), host and No. 29 Austria, No. 37 Slovakia and No. 45 Hungary will take place this weekend at Ballpark Spenadlwiese in Vienna, Austria.

A total of 10 games will be played throughout the weekend, in a single round robin format.

The teams will tune up together for the upcoming European Women’s Softball Championship. Barcelona, Sant Boi, Viladecans and Gavà (all of them located in the Baix Llobregat) will host the continental championship, which will also serve as the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup European qualifier. A total of 22 teams will compete from 24-30 July.

Austria is seeking to qualify for a third World Cup, after being part of the 1994 and 2016 editions of the premier international women’s softball event. Croatia has only played once (2016), while Slovakia and Hungary aim to qualify for the first time.
