GameTime Classics | Episode 36: Japan, USA clash in epic semi-final battle at 2018 WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship
The two softball archrivals clashed in a thrilling semi-final at ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba, Japan.
The first semi-final of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship featured the two best softball teams in the world. Japan and USA both went undefeated in the opening round and the playoffs before facing each other in the most expected matchup of the tournament.
The game was played in front of nearly 6,000 spectators at ZOZO Marine Stadium, home of the NPB’s Chiba Lotte Marines, on 11 August 2018.
Yamato Fujita was the starting pitcher for Japan, while left-hander Monica Abbott was the first of four pitchers used by Team USA.
