Gigantes del Cibao win Dominican Professional Baseball League title

After losing the opener, they swept the series. Raul Valdes, who started the Olympic bronze medal game for the Dominican Republic in Tokyo, earned the title-clinching win. MLB World Series winner Marcell Ozuna earned MVP honours.

The Gigantes del Cibao defeated the Estrellas Orientales in five games to earn the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) title.

The Gigantes swept the series after losing the opener.

Left fielder Marcell Ozuna, who helped the Atlanta Braves win the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series, led a 15-hit lineup. He went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, earning MVP honours.

Center fielder José Siri, first baseman Henry Urrutia, designated hitter Willin Rosario, right fielder Moises Sierra and second baseman Richard Urena also enjoyed a multi-hit game.

Raul Valdes, who started twice for the Dominican Republic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, including the bronze medal game against Korea, earned the win in game five. Valdes pitched five scoreless innings, and five relievers completed the task.
