Groups announced for V U-23 Baseball World Cup

The tournament, which will be held from 6 to 15 September 2024 in Shaoxing, China, is the first Baseball World Cup hosted in mainland China.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced today the groups of the V WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup.

Japan, the World No. 1 and defending U-23 World Champion, No. 11 Australia, No. 12 Puerto Rico, No. 13 Colombia, No. 18 Great Britain, and No. 24 China, will compete in Group A.

Group B will include No. 4 Korea, No. 5 Chinese Taipei, No. 6 Venezuela, No. 7 Netherlands, No. 20 Nicaragua and No. 34 South Africa.

The groups' formation is based on the U-23 Baseball World Cup 2024 seeding, which is from the previous edition's final standings and the WBSC rankings.

The 12 participants represent the five continents, thus the entire WBSC community.

The Chinese Baseball Association will host the V WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup from 6 to 15 September 2024 in the Shaoxing Baseball & Softball Sports Culture Centre.

It is China's largest and highest-standard baseball facility. It hosted the baseball and softball tournaments in the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

The V WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup will go down in history books as the first Baseball World Cup played in mainland China.
