This will be the fifth softball season under Special Olympics Guam, after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The softball programme started in 2017, with consecutive seasons happening until 2020.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Special Olympics Guam has six official sports, including athletics, badminton, bowling, football, softball and swimming. This year, the badminton season took place between February and April. The football competition will be staged from September to December.

Softball was part of the Special Olympics sports programme for the last time in Los Angeles 2017.
