Guatemala wins Women’s Central American Softball Championship
The host team defeated Panama, 9-4, in the final game. The defending champions El Salvador finished in third place.

The Women’s Central American Softball Championship recently wrapped up in Guatemala City with the final between the host team and Panama. Guatemala was crowned champion after a 9-4 win over the Panamanian squad on Sunday, while El Salvador -- the defending champions -- finished in third place.

Joselin Monje went the distance for Guatemala in the final, allowing 4 runs, and 7 hits, with a pair of strikeouts. The loss was charged to Alexandra Baquie.

Guatemala went undefeated in the regular phase, advancing directly to the final. Second place Panama waited in the semifinal for the winner between El Salvador and Guatemala B, third and fourth place finishers in the round robin. 

Panama defeated El Salvador in the semifinal, 3-0.
