III Caribbean Baseball Cup to be postponed to May

A surge in COVID-19 cases forced new restrictions in host nation Curaçao.

The third edition of the Caribbean Baseball Cup, originally scheduled for April in Curaçao, has been postponed to May.

"It was the right thing to do," commented Manuel Frìas, the Director of the event. "We need to safeguard the physical integrity of each member of the participating delegations."

The decision followed a surge in COVID-19 cases on the island of Curaçao and new restrictions imposed by Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath.

The III Caribbean Baseball Cup is now scheduled from 8 to 15 May.

The new format previously announced remains unchanged. The nine participants will be split into two groups: "Elite" (Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Panama and Curaçao) and "Development" (US Virgin Islands, Haiti, Peru and Chile). Both the winners will earn a championship title in their respective tiers.
