International soccer prospect Junior Firpo has baseball memories

The FC Barcelona player recalled baseball in the streets as a kid in the Dominican Republic during a TV show.

FC Barcelona is getting ready for the UEFA Champions League, the most important soccer club competition. Junior Firpo, one of Barcelona players, shared his baseball memories during a television show.

Firpo was taken by the TV crew on a tour of the city. Once he reached the Montjuic park, he asked to step on to the baseball field.

"I played baseball in my neighbourhood as a kid in the Dominican Republic," recalled Firpo. We played with a broom and a ball of socks."

Firpo added: "I still remember how to handle a bat."

Héctor Joel Junior Firpo was born in Santo Domingo in 1996. His family moved to Benalmadena, in the Spanish Region of Andalusia, in 2003. He grew up in the youth sector of Puerto Malagueño, then moved to Betis Sevilla and is in his first season with Barcelona. He has dual citizenship and has already represented Spain internationally.
