Iran, Iraq sign Memorandum of Understanding on baseball-softball development

The respective National Olympic Committees oversaw the initiative. The Iraq and Iran baseball and softball federations aim to hold joint educational projects and play friendly games.

The Iraqi Baseball and Softball Association and the Baseball and Softball Association of Iran have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Tehran, Iran. The deal includes joint projects on education and the organization of training camps and friendly games.

The MoU is the result of an initiative by their National Olympic Committees. Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, the president of the Iran Olympic Committee, met with Raad Hamoud Salman, the president of the Iraqi Olympic Committee.

Mr Salman travelled to Tehran together with the president of the Iraqi Baseball and Softball Federation, Ali Al-Baldavi.

The guests visited Iran's Sports Museum, the National Olympic Academy and the Azadi Sports Complex.

During the meeting, Mohammad Alipour, the president of the Federation of Sports Associations of Iran, confirmed the importance of baseball/softball in the landscape of sports activity in the country.

Hooman Mansurian, the Iran Baseball and Softball Association president, presented a report on the activity.

Iran is currently No. 71 in WBSC Men's Baseball World Rankings. Iraq is unranked.
