Italy announce final roster for Women's Softball World Cup Group C

After finishing third at the Canada Cup, the 'Azzurre' will play three warm-up games against the University of Alabama from 18 to 21 July.

World No. 8 Italy announced their final roster for the XVII WBSC Women's Softball World Group C. Manager Federico Pizzoolini didn't make any change from the Canada Cup.

The core of the roster is made of Italian Softball League players. The squad includes San Diego State University catcher Barbara Mckenzie, University of Illinois pitcher Christina Toniolo and Northwestern University infielder Andrea Filler, who earned Best Defensive Player honours at the Canada Cup.can find Italy's roster at FIBS's website

Italy finished third in the Canada Cup, behind World No. 2 Japan and TC Colorado. The Azzurre defeated No. 5 Canada in the bronze medal game, 6-2.

Pizzolini's staff will include pitching coach Nancy Evans, assistant coaches Giulio Brusa and Marta Gambella and senior advisor Mike Candrea.

The Italian Baseball Softball Federation (FIBS) announced that the National Team will warm up for the World Cup with three exhibition games against the University of Alabama.

Italy will host Group C of the XVII WBSC Women's Softball World Cup in Buttrio and Castions di Strada, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, from 22 to 26 July. They will face Japan, Canada, No. 22 Venezuela, No. 26 Philippines and No. 29 New Zealand.

Tickets for Italy's games are on sale online. Admission to the other games is free.

The same venues will host the World Championship stage from 15 to 21 July 2024.
