The Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) recognised Baseball5 (B5) as an official discipline.
The FIBS Board of Directors stated through a deliberation dated 18 September: "FIBS recognizes as an official discipline, and will provide rules and regulations for the activity. Only FIBS member clubs will be able to participate in regional and national B5 activity."
FIBS Board of Directors also expressed confidence in Baseball5 as a tool for development.
"B5 is extremely easy to learn and won't need dedicated venues. You can play it everywhere."
FIBS intends to participate with an Italian National Team in the WBSC Qualifiers to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics.
