IV Caribbean Baseball Cup to open in Bahamas on 4 December

Five National Teams will compete in Andrea Rodger Stadium in Nassau. The final is scheduled for 11 December. Two teams will qualify for the Central American and Caribbean Games 2023.

The Andre Rodger Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas, will host the fourth Caribbean Baseball Cup from 4 to 11 December. The tournament will qualify two teams for the Central American and Caribbean Games 2023, scheduled from 23 June to 8 July in El Salvador.

The five participants are world No. 9 Cuba, No. 16 Puerto Rico, No. 60 Curaçao, No. 66 US Virgin Islands and No. 80 Bahamas.

Round-robin play will eliminate one National Team. The number one seed after the first round will play the fourth-place team in the first semifinal. The second and third-place finishers will compete in the other semifinal.

Curaçao is the defending champion. They defeated Cuba in the final of the third edition, which was dedicated to the late Higino Velez, former manager of the Cuban National Team.

Cuba, managed by Armando Jhonson, has already qualified for the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Puerto Rico selected the team from the local Double-A League. Manager Igor Gonzalez said he is thrilled with his team's level: "If everybody stays healthy, we will have a good chance to qualify for the Central American and Caribbean Games".
