Japan, Singapore qualify out of Asia for WBSC U-23 Men's Softball World Cup

World No. 2 Japan dominated in the three-team Asia Cup. No.2 Singapore came from behind to beat No. 16 India, 3-2, on the final day and earned the second spot. The Men's Softball Asia Cup is to start on 3 September.

Japan and Singapore have qualified for and will represent Asia in the WBSC U-23 Men's Softball World Cup.

Japan dominated on home soil in Shimanto City in the three-team Asia Cup. They outscored India and Singapore 29-1.

After winning the first game easily, 13-0, Singapore needed to come from behind to beat India, 3-2, and secure its spot in the World Cup.

Shimanto will also host from 3 to 6 September the Men's Softball Asia Cup. Seven of Asia's best softball teams will compete for two spots in the XVII WBSC Men's Softball World Cup, which is scheduled from 26 November to 4 December in New Zealand.

The participants in the continental championship are world No. 2 Japan, No. 15 Singapore, No. 16 India, No. 21 Philippines, No. 24 Hong Kong, No. 35 Thailand and Chinese Taipei.
