Japan to host Chinese Taipei in Baseball5 friendly series

The Baseball5 Asian Trophy is scheduled for 4 June in Nagoya, the host city of the 2026 Asian Games.

The Baseball Federation of Japan (BFJ) announced that the Japanese Baseball5 National Team will host the Chinese Taipei Baseball5 National Team on 4 June for an exhibition series at the Oasis21 in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. The WBSC sanctions the event.

Oasis21 is a shopping mall in downton Nagoya.

"It's a perfect location to promote Baseball5 as an urban discipline," commented BFJ president Masatake Yamanaka. "The venue has a large roof, which guarantees against rain delays."

Yamanaka added that the area is bustling and the BFJ intends to dedicate a space to those who wish to try Baseball5. "It will be a good chance to showcase Baseball5 to many passersby," he said.

World No. 2 Chinese Taipei and No. 4 Japan are the top-ranked Asian Baseball5 programmes. Japan lost the final of the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup against Cuba, while Chinese Taipei won the bronze medal game against Venezuela. Chinese Taipei won the WBSC Asia Youth Baseball5 World Cup Qualifier.

Asia will host the second WBSC Baseball5 World Cup at the Harbourfront Event Space in Hong Kong in 2024.

Nagoya will host the XX Asian Games in September 2026 .
