Jendrick Speer to manage German Baseball National Team

The 42-year-old former National Team infielder succeeds Steve Janssen and will also manage the U-23 National Team.

The German Baseball Softball Federation (DBV) announced that Jendrick Speer would replace Steve Janssen as the baseball National Team manager.

"We are happy that Jendrick Speer has agreed to take this position, and we hope that we return to our winning ways, especially with the senior national team," said DBV President Juergen Elsishans. "For us, selecting a German manager who could be present in Germany for the entire year was crucial. We have accomplished that feat and wish him all the best."

Speer, 42, will also manage the U-23 National Team.

He has managed the Paderborn Untouchables in the German Bundesliga for the past six years and led them to the 2022 final series.

As a player, Speer made his international debut for Germany as a 16-year-old in 1997 and has been a regular on the National Team for two decades. He was on the team that finished third on home soil at the 2010 European Championship.

Janssen was manager of the U-23 National Team since 2019, earning consecutive silver medals at the U-23 European Championship.
