“I can’t wait to lead this team in Argentina,” said Jeron Tan, a 23-year-old pitcher and first base based in Australia. “I will definitely do my best to make everyone feel welcome and let them enjoy their time in Argentina. I can't wait to show this team's full potential on the world stage."

Three Singapore players - Audric Chia, Ong and Tan - participated in the Men’s Softball World Cup 2019 in Prague, Czechia, where the Asian team finished in 15th place with a 2-6 record.

At the Men's Softball World Cup, Ong pitched 19.1 innings, more than any pitcher in Singapore's staff.

“I am grateful to be able to represent Singapore once again, especially on the world stage,” said Ong, who racked up 28 strikeouts. “We hope to not only build on this experience to better ourselves but also to spread the game of softball in Singapore.”

In addition to the three Men's Softball World Cup veterans, Chia, Ean Eu, Cheoh Shun Kai, Max Koh, Mathew Tan and Terrence Tay reinforce the current U-23 squad after headlining Singapore's campaign in the 2020 WBSC U-18 Men's Softball World Cup, where they stunned world No. 1 Argentina on the opening day and finished ninth overall - their best-ever finish in a youth men's softball World Cup.

As the lowest-ranked team in Group A, Singapore will start their WBSC U-23 Men's Softball World Cup campaign against world No. 4 Australia on opening day, followed by matchups against No. 12, South Africa, No. 10 Mexico, No. 6 Czechia and No. 1 Argentina.
