Jocelyn Alo named 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year

Alo will play on the US Women's National Softball Team this summer for the first time, after making the roster for the Canada Cup and Japan All-Star Series.

University of Oklahoma’s Jocelyn Alo has been named the 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year – as she becomes the fifth athlete in history to earn back-to-back Player of the Year honours.

Alo, the reigning USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, helped to lead Oklahoma Sooners to its sixth-straight NCAA Women’s College World Series (WCWS) appearance while leading the nation with a 1.163 slugging percentage and a .634 on-base percentage. With another record-breaking year, Alo became the NCAA Division I softball all-time career home run leader during the 2022 season after hitting her career 96th home run in her home state of Hawaii in early March.

Alo will represent USA this summer for the first time, after being named to the Canada Cup and Japan All-Star Series rosters. The 18-player Canada Cup roster will compete in Surrey, BC, Canada this June; while a 15-player roster will compete in the Japan All-Star Series, which has been tentatively set for this August.

Along with Alo, top-three finalists for the 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year included Great Britain's ace Georgina Corrick, and 2017 WBSC Junior World Champion Baylee Klingler.
