Korea has eyes on inaugural Baseball5 Asia Cup, rolls out Mixed National Team

KBSA selected eight players, four men and four women. All have relevant baseball or softball playing experiences. The Asia Cup is scheduled from 17 to 19 August in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Korea Baseball Softball Association announced its Baseball5 National Team that will compete in the Asia Cup Baseball5 2022 from 17 to 19 August in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The eight players selected, four men and four women, have all relevant playing experience in baseball and softball.

Dae Hyung Lee (KT Wiz), Jong Gil Shin (Kia Tigers), Suk Min Yoon (SK Wyverns) and Seung Jun Choi (Hanwha Eagles) are all former Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league players.

The four women are So Won Kim (who played softball and is currently competing in women's baseball), Myung Hwa Jang (Heroins, women's baseball), Dae Rim Jeon and Seo Hyun Kim, who are former women's softball National Team players and competed in the 2018 Asian Games.

Nine National Teams will participate in the inaugural Baseball5 Asia Cup:

Group A Malaysia, Korea and Thailand.
Group B Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines
Group C Chinese Taipei, Pakistan and Singapore

The top three finishers will qualify for the first WBSC Baseball5 World Cup in Mexico, scheduled from 7 to 13 November.
