Lara wins Venezuelan Women’s Baseball League 2022

Lara clinched the title with a come from behind 8-7 win over Anzoategui in the final game of the competition.

Lara became the Venezuelan Women’s Baseball League champions with a come from behind 8-7 win over Anzoategui in the final game of the competition. A go-ahead grand slam off the bat of Yakary Molina in the sixth inning was the difference for Lara.

Anzoategui took an early 6-1 lead and appeared to be in control . But a seven-run sixth inning, capped by Molina’s grand slam, gave Lara the championship. Molina collected 5 RBI in the game, while starting pitcher Oriannys Hernández went the distance to get the win.

On Friday, Lara used a nine-run rally in the fifth to secure a 9-2 Super Round win over Aragua and earn a spot in the final. On Saturday, Anzoategui came from behind to defeat Aragua, in eight innings, and advanced to the championship game.

Aragua finished the season in third place, while Distrito Capital was fourth.
