LG Twins and KT Wiz to compete for Korean Series title

The Twins dominated the regular season but haven't won since 1994. In 2021, the KT Wiz won the only Korean Series they participated in. The series is set to open at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Tuesday, 7 November.

The KT Wiz will face the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league regular season winners LG Twins in the 2023 Korean Series. The series will open at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, the home of the Twins, on Tuesday, 7 November.

The KT Wiz will host game four at Suwon Stadium on Saturday, 11 November.

Game seven, if necessary, is scheduled at Jamsil Stadium on Wednesday, 15 November.

The LG Twins dominated the regular season with 86 wins, 56 losses and two draws. Still, manager Kyoung-youb Youm showed a lot of respect for the opponents.

"The Wiz have always been a difficult team to play against, and there were many games that we were lucky to win," he said during a press conference, praising the Wiz pitching staff.

Youm showed confidence in his team: "I could really feel a sense of urgency and determination from our players as we were getting ready for the series."

The KT Wiz finished second (79-62-3) and advanced directly to the third round of the postseason, the best-of-five playoff series.

They faced the NC Dinos, who had eliminated the Doosan Bears (14-9) in the Wild Card game and swept the defending champions SSG Landers (4-3, 7-3, 7-6) in the semi-playoff series.

"LG is a great team. They were the first-place team in the regular season for a reason," said KT Wiz manager Kang-chul Lee. "I am worried about everything that they bring to the table. I think they have the perfect balance of pitching and offence. They run the bases well, and they play great defence."

The LG Twins have participated in six Korean Series, the last in 2002. They won the titles in 1990 and 1994.

The KT Wiz won the Korean Series in 2021, the only time they participated.
