Li-Cheng Liang hits home run as Chinese Taipei beat Hong Kong

Li-Cheng Liang bolstered the offence of Chinese Taipei with a late third-inning home run.

A three-run homer from Li-Cheng Liang in the third inning helped Chinese Taipei on its way to a 14-0 win over Hong Kong, its second victory at the II WBSC U-12 Softball World Cup in Jin-Long Stadium.

Liang’s performance on Thursday against Hong Kong included two runs, one hit and three RBIs, along with outstanding performances made by Ya-Hsien Hsieh, Sheng-Zhi Wu, Yuan-Hsi Tien and Yue-Cen Wu who each contributed two runs.

Hosts Chinese Taipei retired the Hong Kong batters easily and played aggressive on offence as they pushed first batter Liang to reach home plate for the first run after a ground out, fly out and a dropped fly error.

Chinese Taipei increased their lead to 4-0 after they scored three runs in the second inning that featured Tien reaching home plate after an RBI single by Chi-Jui Ku, who eventually finished the run with Yue-Cen Wu on a Hong Kong throwing error.

The host team completed four runs before Hong Kong managed to get the first out in the bottom of the third inning. The second out came only after Yu-Chen Chiu scored on a ground out to extend the lead to 9-0. Liang's three-run home run and Sheng-Zhi Wu’s triple sent Hsieh home. Sheng-Zhi Wu claimed the final run after a throwing error by Hong Kong, which completed the scoring.
