The Malta Women’s National Softball Team continued with its preparation for the European Championship with another exhibition game in Gozo on Sunday, 21 May. Once again, they faced the Redcoats’ U15 team, which is also preparing to compete in an international tournament abroad this July.
Nicole Cassar pitched a complete game in a Malta 13-8 victory. She faced 29 batters, struck out seven and limited the Redcoats to just four hits. The national team registered seven base hits, with two each for Dosithee Attard and Jessica Borg, while Laragh Tabone, Marilise Vella and Nicole Cassar hitting a single each.
Over the coming weeks the focus will shift on working on the fundamentals of fielding, hitting and base running with work on team defence to take precedence in the final month.
Malta will be competing in the Women’s Softball European Champkionship, to be played in Spain from 24-30 July.
