Playball is at 19:00 on Thursday at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. Solbach is a former minor leaguer who appeared at the Triple-A level, and Kanemaru is a 20-year-old top collegiate prospect.

Right-hander Markus Solbach and lefty Yumeto Kanemaru will start the second game of the Global Baseball Games, CARNEXT SAMURAI JAPAN SERIES, which will start at 19:00 at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan on Thursday.

The Minnesota Twins signed Solbach as a 20-year-old in 2011. He also played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers, appearing in a combined 134 Minor League games, including 19 at Triple-A. Germany's Solbach played professionally in the Italian Serie A and the Australian Baseball League (ABL). He was honoured as the ABL 2019 MVP, the first time the award didn’t go to an American or Australian player.

He will play for the Bonn Capitals in Germany in 2024.

Kanemaru, 20, will play his senior year at Kensai University. He is regarded as one of the top collegiate prospects in the country. His fastball has been clocked at 95 miles (or 153 kilometres) per hour.

The second of the two Global Baseball Games is scheduled for 19:00 on Thursday, 7 March, at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan.
