Meet Tainan, home of the VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup

Tainan will host the U-12 Baseball World Cup for the fourth time in a row. Let’s discover some facts about this fascinating city where many young athletes start their international baseball journeys.

Tainan is the oldest city in the Taiwan and is usually called “Capital City” since it has served as the capital for more than 200 years. The Dutch East India Company initially established it in 1624.

It is considered the island's cultural capital for its abundant historic attractiveness and lifestyle. The oldest Taoist temples are in Tainan and the city is well known for their diversity.

Tainan is also well known for its cuisine. Although some of the most famous dishes in Taiwan originated in the city, the exposure to different cultures around the world made the Tainan cuisine arguably the richest in flavors. It is also considered the coffee capital of Taiwan.

Another thing that makes Tainan pretty well known is its Night Markets, which are considered the biggest in Taiwan. With the largest metropolitan area in Taiwan, Tainan is full of department stores, shopping malls and high-profile stores.

Regarding baseball, Tainan is one of Taiwan's baseball capitals. Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions is Tainan’s baseball team, the most successful team in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) with 10 titles.

In just a few days, Tainan will welcome the best young baseball talent in the world, where some amazing athletes will start their journeys on the International Baseball stage.
