Host México ended their tournament at home undefeated as they shutout Cuba 4-0 in the final to earn the championship. The 12-team lineup for this October's WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup is now set.

Mexico, Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela qualified for the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup having advanced to the semifinals of the Pan American U-23 Baseball Championship which finished in Aguascalientes, Mexico on Sunday.

México ended the 10-day tournament at home undefeated as they shutout Cuba 4-0 in the final to earn the championship. 

In the bronze medal game, Nicaragua just beat Venezuela 4-3 to complete the podium.

On Saturday, Cuba beat Nicaragua 6-5 in the first semifinal before Mexico reversed the result of the final of last year's edition of the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup by beating Venezuela 5-0 in the second semifinal.

A total of seven teams participated in the event. Puerto Rico (fifth), Argentina (sixth) and Guatemala (seventh) closed the standings.

The IV WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup is scheduled from 14 to 23 October in Taipei City, TPE. Venezuela is the defending world champion in the category.
