Myung-Joo Cha to manage Korea at Baseball5 Asia Cup; Japan announces team

The head coach selected eight players and four reserves. World No. 9 Korea will host the WBSC Asia Baseball5 World Cup Qualifier. No. 6 Japan presented their National Team in a press conference.

Myung-Joo Cha, who led the National Team at the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup, in 2022 will manage world No. 9 Korea at the Baseball5 Asia Cup, a qualifying tournament for the Baseball5 World Cup 2024.

The head coach held two rounds of tryouts and selected eight players: Baseball5 World Cup alumni Han-Byul Lee and Seong-Wook Hong, Jun-Seo Park, Chang-Ryeol Bae (men); Hana Choi, Ji-Won Lee, Joo-Ah Park, Ji-ye Lee (women). Cha is also considering four reserves.

Meanwhile, world No. 6 Japan presented its Baseball5 National Team during a press conference.

The Baseball5 Asia Cup is scheduled from 13 to 16 April at the Olympic Park in Seoul. The top-three finishers will qualify for the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024.

World No. 2 Chinese Taipei is the Baseball5 Asia Cup defending champion.

Hong Kong-China will host the II WBSC Baseball5 World Cup from 7 to 12 October.
