A total of 15 players on the list have participated in official WBSC international events.

Australian Olympian Gabbie Plain, along with 2021 USA Softball Women’s National Team members Charla Echols, Montana Fouts, Janae Jefferson, Kinzie Hansen, Taylor Pleasants, and Megan Faraimo (replacement), highlight the 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List. The list also includes the 2019 U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup MVP, Valerie Cagle.

Plain, originally from Sydney, played for Australia at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and also defended the yellow jersey at the 2017 WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship. She pitched six innings in Tokyo 2020, posting a 1.17 ERA with 10 hits and one strikeout.

Early this year, Echols, Fouts, Jefferson, Hanzen and Pleasants were named for the 2022 USA Softball Women’s National Team to participate in the The World Games Birmingham 2022, which is scheduled for 9-13 July at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama. USA Junior National Team’s 2017 ace Faraimo has been selected as a replacement for the team.

Great Britain’s ace Georgina Corrick, who has represented the European nation in the 2017 WBSC Junior Women’s Softball World Championship, the 2018 WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship and the WBSC Europe/Africa Softball Olympic Qualifier, also made the list.

A total of 12 listed players have been on junior World Championship teams for USA (three veterans from the 2017 team, seven from the 2019 squad and two from the 2021 team).
