Neptunus Rotterdam, the club on top of European baseball

REGENSBURG, Germany-Neptunus Rotterdam won the Champions Cup final and the european title for clubs goes to The Netherlands for the third time in a row

REGENSBURG, Germany – Dutch league’s Neptunus Rotterdam beat Italian league’s Fortitudo Bologna, 7-3, in the finale of the European Baseball Club Champions Cup 2017.
The title of the top club tournament in Europe has gone to a team from the Dutch Baseball League for the third straight time.

Starting pitchers Owens for Bologna and Koeiman for Rotterdam made it a close game through six innings.
Bologna tied the game in the bottom of the sixth and forced Rotterdam to insert reliever Tomek, who also pitches on the Czech National Team.
Rotterdam’s offense ignited in the 7th inning to break a 2-2 tie. Neptunus hitters got back-to-back singles and Bologna defensives errors helped Rotterdam jump to a 6-2 lead.6.
Neptunus added another run in the 8th with a solo homer by center fielder Dille. Fortitudo cut Neptunus’ lead to 7-3 in the bottom of the eighth, which was the game’s final run scored

In the 3rd-4th Place game, Italian league’s T&A San Marino defeated  Dutch league’s Amsterdam L&D (7-3) while German league’s Mainz Athletics beat hosts Legionaere (4-3) in the 7th-8th place match. After yesterday’s games, Italian League’s Rimini and French League’s Rouen resulted tied in 5th place.
The Germany League will lose a spot in the 2018 tournament.
The Czech League will send a representative to the Euro Club Champions Cup next year, as Draci Brno won the qualifier, defeating Eagles Prague (5-0) in the final.
