The two-month season will start on Saturday, 22 April. The tournament will serve as a selection for the Central American and Caribbean Games.
The Colombian Softball Federation announced the first edition of the men's softball Liga Élite. The four participating teams - La Tribu de Santa Marta, Abajo de Barranquilla, Tractores de Cartagena and Toros de Sincelejo (presented is pictured above) - will compete in a two-month season.
Opening Day is scheduled for Saturday, 22 April, in the Eduardo Porras Stadium in Sincelejo (Tractores-Toros) and the Bolivariano La Paz in Santa Marta (Tribu-Abajo).
The best players in the country will compete on the four 20-man rosters. Each team announced the signing of two foreign players.
"Liga Élite is intended as a top-level competition," commented Federation president Edwin Díaz.
According to the local press, the league represents a first step in the direction of a professional men's softball league in the country.
