New president of Nigerian Baseball and Softball Association: William Boyd

The new leader of baseball and softball in Nigeria believes "a new foundation" has been laid.

William BOYD has been elected president of the Nigerian Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA). The elections took place at the Women Development Center in the Central Business District in Abuja, during the national governing body's Annual General Meeting.

The new Executive Board includes First Vice President Alhaji Sani Sotonye Okiri, Second Vice President Olufolake Abdulrazaq, Third Vice President Yemisi Monisola Makanjuola, Secretary-General Kehinde Laniyan, Assistant Secretary-General Maurice Magaji, Treasurer Victoria Sodipo, Public Relations Officer Robert Onwukwe and Assistant Public Relations Officer Ayodele Gideon.

President Boyd mentioned during his acceptance speech "the courage" the 58 delegates showed in "ensuring that baseball/softball gets the necessary attention."

"I am happy with the caliber of people surrounding me," said Boyd. "A new foundation has been laid today. Every Member has the potential to move the game forward."

Secretary-General Laniyan added: "We hope to involve all Members in order to add value to baseball/softball."
