New time for WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024 Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony will now take place at 6pm, with the main game of the day between hosts Hong Kong, China and South Africa scheduled for 7:30pm.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and the local organising committee jointly announced a new time for the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024 Opening Ceremony, along with a new time for Game 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 of the competition.

The Opening Ceremony, originally scheduled for 7 October at 7pm, will now take place at 6pm, with the main game of the day between hosts Hong Kong, China and South Africa scheduled now for 7:30pm, while the other afternoon games will be anticipated by 30 minutes. The morning games of the Opening Day schedule remain unchanged.

The change was made to accommodate the attendance of major dignitaries and VIPs, who will participate in the Opening Ceremony of the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024.

WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024 schedule

The WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024 is slated to be played from 7 to 12 October in Hong Kong, China. The 12 teams were placed into two groups last month and will each play five games during the group stage:

  • Group A: Cuba, Chinese Taipei, Venezuela, Hong Kong, South Africa and Lithuania
  • Group B: Japan, France, Tunisia, Mexico, China and Australia

The top three finishers from each group will secure a spot in the Super Round, while the remaining six teams will enter the Placement Round. The Super Round, taking place on 10 and 11 October, will determine the top two teams who will compete for the Baseball5 World Championship title on 12 October.
