New world No. 1 Samurai Japan no-hits MLB All-Stars in Tokyo

The soon-to-be No. 1 Samurai Japan are already successfully defending their top status.

TOKYO – Pitchers of the Japanese National Baseball Team, “Samurai Japan”, combined for a no-hitter versus the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star team in game 3 of the Japan Series – an international competition sanctioned by baseball’s world governing body, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).

Samurai starter Takahiro Norimoto, 23, combined with three relievers on a no-hitter as the Japanese National Team continued to dominate the MLB selection, taking a three games to nil lead in the five-game series.

In Taichung, the 21U Samurai Japan National Team, which, like their big brother team playing against MLB and is made up of the best young players from Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), will be playing Chinese Taipei for the 21U world championship Sunday at the first-ever 21U Baseball World Cup.

Securing at least a silver in Taichung, Japan is set to make history and take over the No. 1 position in the world rankings for the first time ever, bypassing USA.

While a best-of-five event, the new world leader Samurai Japan will continue taking on the MLB stars in two more contests.
