Nicaragua hosts Central American and Caribbean Games Baseball Qualifier

The winner of the six-team tournament will compete in the Central American and Caribbean Games from 25 June to 1 July.

World No. 17 Nicaragua hosts a qualification tournament for the Central American and Caribbean Games , which runs from 6-12 February at the Soberania and Stanley Cayasso (former Estadio Nacional) ballparks in the country's capital.

Nicaragua will compete for one spot against No. 12 Panama, No. 76 Costa Rica, No. 52 Honduras and Team WBSC. No. 61 El Salvador also participates in the tournament but is not competing for a spot in the Central American and Caribbean Games having already qualified. If the El Salvador National Team wins the qualifier, the second-place finisher will advance to the Games.

After round robin play, the top four finishers will advance to the semifinals. The winners will play the final on 12 February.

The winner of the qualifier in Managua, Nicaragua, will join World No. 8 Cuba, No. 33 Curaçao, No. 9 Dominican Republic, the host and No. 61 El Salvador, No. 5 Mexico, No. 13 Puerto Rico and No. 6 Venezuela in the baseball tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games.

The baseball tournament at the Central American and Caribbean Games is scheduled from 25 June to 1 July. Puerto Rico is the defending champion.
