Team manager Marvin Bernard is working with a 34-player preliminary roster and plans to add at least three players currently under contract with MLB organizations.

The Nicaraguan National Baseball Team is officially in training for the WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier to the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020.

Manager Marvin Benard is currently working with a 34-player preliminary roster:

PITCHERS (16) Carlos Teller, Sheyder Garcia, Luis Castellon, Elvin Garcia, Jorge Bucardo, Junior Tellez, Fidencio Flores, Wilfredo Pinner, Berman Espinoza, Jesus Garrido, Ernesto Glasgow, Elias Gutierrez, Norman St. Claire, Harvin Talavera, Osman Gutierrez, Wilber Bucardo.

Nicaragua's coaching staff includes Julio Sanchez, Sandor Guido, Cairo Murillo, Jensry Roa and Mario Pena.

Tokyo 2020 – Olympic Baseball

Benard, a 51-year old former Major League Baseball (MLB) left-handed outfielder for the San Francisco Giants, said that he would also count on three players under contract with MLB organizations. He named left-handed pitcher Leo Crawford (24-year old Milwaukee Brewers), left-handed pitcher Dilmer Mejia (23, Chicago White Sox) and outfielder Ismael Munguia (22, San Francisco Giants).

World No.15 Nicaragua will play in Group A of the Americas Qualifier, together with world No. 2 USA, No.10 Dominican Republic and No. 11 Puerto Rico.
