Anderson Suriel’s lead-off double in the bottom of the sixth inning pushed No. 12 Dominican Republic past No. 4 Chinese Taipei, 4-3, on the second day of Super Round action at the U-15 Baseball World Cup 2018 in Panama.

DAVID, Panama — Anderson Suriel’s lead-off double in the bottom of the sixth inning pushed No. 12 Dominican Republic past No. 4 Chinese Taipei, 4-3, on the second day of Super Round action at the U-15 Baseball World Cup 2018 in Panama.

Suriel would later score on wild pitch before Adael Amador Santiago reached on a fielder’s choice that brought in the tying and go ahead runs.

After the teams traded runs in the second inning, Chinese Taipei took a 3-1 lead in the third on a sacrifice fly from Hao-Yu Lee and RBI single off the bat of Ying-Chieh Mao.

Chinese Taipei starting pitcher Kuan-Yu Chen gave his side five innings on the mound before getting into trouble in the sixth and was replaced by Chen-Yi Hung who was tagged with the loss.

Dominican Republic starter Julio Torres Guzman earned the win, tossing a complete game.

Both Chinese Taipei and Dominican Republic will take 1-3 records into the final day of the Super Round.

In Consolation Round action, Germany picked up their first win, shutting out South Africa, 5-0.
