Odesa Mariners, PowerKrop win first-ever Ukraine National Baseball5 Championship

Kropyvnytskyi, 300 kilometres southeast of Kyiv, hosted the tournament on 19 and 20 February. A total of 150 athletes participated.

The Odesa Mariners and PowerKrop won the first-ever Ukraine National Baseball5 Championship. PowerKrop earned the elite title, while Odesa won in the U-15 category. The tournament was played at the indoor facility Sdushor-2 in Kropyvnytskyi, 300 kilometres southeast of Kyiv, on 19 and 20 February.

"A lot of good things have happened since the WBSC donated a dozen Baseball5 balls two years ago," commented the federation board member Oleg Boyko via email.

PowerKrop defeated the Mariners , 3-2, in the elite category (no age limits) finals.

Seven teams participated in the tournament.

The Mariners defeated the Kyiv Darnitsky Tigers, 6-5, in the U-15 final.

Six teams participated in the age category.

The tournament involved a total 150 athletes.

Volodymyr Kovalyov, the first vice president of the Ukraine Baseball and Softball Federation and a National Olympic Committee board member, participated in the closing ceremony.

Ukraine is currently ranked 29th in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings and 32nd in the WBSC Softball World Rankings.
