Odicci Alexander wins Athletes Unlimited 2023 softball season

Alexander played for USA in 2022, winning the Canada Cup and the Pan American Championship, a qualifier for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup.

The Athletes Unlimited 2023 season came to an end last weekend in Rosemont (Illinois), USA. Right-handed pitcher Odicci Alexander was crowned 2023 champion with 1,994 points, joining Cat Osterman, Aleshia Ocasio and Dejah Mulipola in the champions circle. All four players have represented their countries at international level.

“What a ride, what a season,” Alexander said. “I feel like this is the best I felt mentally, so I’m super proud of me, but I’m honestly super proud of every single one of these girls out here and just what they do for the game and continue to help this game grow.

“I’m grateful, I’m blessed, and I’m just honestly grateful for the opportunity to be here. One of 60 to step on this field.”

The competition format is centred on a player’s performance, not the teams. During the games, players get points for “winning” each inning, and also for each of their individual statistics. When games are over, three MVPs are chosen and awarded points.

Alyssa Denham (1,980 points) finished in second place, while Danielle Gibson (1,822 points) was third. You can see the full leaderboard on Athletes Unlimited website.

Megan Faraimo, who pitched for USA in Group A of the Women’s Softball World Cup in Ireland last July, was named Rookie of the Year; while Jessi Warren was the Defensive Player of the Year.
