The right-hander appeared in two games for the Dominican Republic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Dominican veteran right-handed reliever Jairo Asencio will join Los Mariachis de Guadalajara of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB) for the 2022 season.

Asencio helped the Dominican Republic National Baseball Team earn a historic bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He appeared in the games against Japan and the United States.

He is the Dominican Professional Winter League (LIDOM) all-time saves leader. He has played for the Toros del Este (2009-2012) and the Tigres del Licey (2013 to date)

He has 43 games of Major League Baseball (MLB) experience over four seasons.

He spent one season in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league with the Kia Tigers, appearing in 46 games and earning 20 saves.
