Olympic Esports Series 2023: 10 eBASEBALL™ finalists make their mark on history

The 10 eBASEBALL™ rising stars with different life stories brought their love of WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS to the table and performed at their best at the Olympic Esports Week 2023.

Ten WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS players competed for the title of the inaugural Olympic Esports Series 2023 Baseball winner at the Olympic Esports Week 2023 which was held in Singapore in June.

The rising stars with different backgrounds from their countries - Japan, Chinese Taipei, the United States of America, and Singapore - uniformly brought their love of WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS to the table and performed on one of the greatest stages of all.

Chia-Ming Wang – “CMWANG” (from Chinese Taipei)

  • Finished in third place at the Olympic Esports Series 2023
  • Developed an interest in POWER PROS around 20 years ago when he first played the game
  • Wang is also a professional pianist 

Hiroki Horiike – “TAIJYU” (From Japan) - @P_TAIJYO

  • Finished in second place at the Olympic Esports Series 2023
  • He previously ranked third in the Homerun Derby at the Olympic Virtual Series 2021
  • Acted as a game commentator at the eBASEBALL™ Pawapuro Pro League 2020
  • Horiike fell in love baseball at the age of 6, inspired by watching his father play POWER PROS
  • Singapore marked his first time travelling abroad 

Jacob Park – “KangGang” (from USA)

  • Came fourth at the Olympic Esports Series 2023        
  • Park first discovered the POWER PROS series at a gaming event in 2018 
  • He recently graduated from high school  

Kazutaka Machida – “antimon” (from Japan) - @antimon0903

  • A professional eBASEBALL™ player who participated in the eBASEBALL™ Pro League 2019-2020
  • Machida has been playing baseball for many years

Po-Yao Hsu – “DoubleBass” (from Chinese Taipei - @doublebassTW

  • Played POWER PROS for the first time during the summer of 1994 when it was initially released
  • In 2006, Hsu hosted an online National Championship together with friends

Shoma Mori – “SHORA” (from Japan) - @hanshinjsusk

  • The winner of the Olympic Esports Series 2023
  • Mori also won the Olympic Virtual Series in 2021
  • He is a professional eBASEBALL™ player who competed in the eBASEBALL™ Pro League 2018-2020
  • Mori has a long history of playing baseball 

Tomoki Noguchi – “Daylami” (from Japan) - @Daylami18

  • Noguchi was introduced to POWER PROS by his father at the age of four
  • His gamer-tag, Daylami, is named after a racehorse from his favourite races

Takato Fujishima – “fujito” (from Japan) - @fujito51

  • He has played various sports, including baseball, tennis and handball
  • Singapore was his first time travelling abroad 

Wei-Chung Yu – “Hazuremon” (from Chinese Taipei)

  • Yu played POWER PROS for the first time at the age of 16 in 1995 
  • He achieved the top ranking on the overall leaderboard of “Jikkyou Pawafuru Puro Yakyu Next”
  • Balancing his passion for eBASEBALL™, Yu is also a dedicated father to three children

Woonie Chong – “Woonie” (from Singapore) - @oldpier

  • Chong plays slow pitch softball and learned about the qualifying event through one of his softball club teammates
  • As an avid POWER PROS player, but was a recent WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS player
