Olympic Esports Series 2023: Japan online qualifier completed; Global online qualifier starts this week

Over 10,000 participants played WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS during the Japan Qualifier Online Round as part of the Olympic Esports Series 2023

The finals of the Olympic Esports Series 2023 are one step closer for 16 eBASEBALL™ players after the conclusion of the Japan Qualifier Online Round, which took place from 13 to 19 March.

A total of over 10,000 participants played WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS in the tournament, organised by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. (KONAMI).

The top 16 ranked eBASEBALL™ players from the Japan Qualifier Online Round will now compete in the Japan Qualifier Final on 8 April in the KONAMI eSports GINZA studio in Tokyo. 

The top four players from the Japan Qualifier Final will advance to the Olympic Esports Finals, which will take place at the Suntec Centre in Singapore between 22 and 25 June 2023.

The first global online qualifier takes place between 27 March and 2 April, where the best player on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation will both qualify for the Olympic Esports Finals.

A second global online qualifier, offering two more spots to the Olympic Esports Finals 2023, will take place from 17-23 April.

Olympic Esports Finals participants:

  • 4 from Japan Qualifier Final
  • 4 from two Global Online Qualifiers (two from each tournament)
  • 1 – Olympic Virtual Series 2021 winner
  • 1 – Other
