Japanese Olympic gold medalist Miu Goto received the Japanese Softball League 2021 MVP award today at the JSL individual ceremony award held at the Tokyo Dome Hotel. Pitching for the Toyota Red Terriers, the 20-year-old left-hander finished the season with 9 wins and 3 losses, and a 0.83 ERA.

Goto, who recently commented about her dreams of playing again in the Olympics, completed a stellar year, highlighted by the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the JSL MVP award, one of the top softball professional leagues in the world. She also led the league with 9 wins.

Goto’s teammate with the Japanese National Softball Team and three-time Olympic medalist Eri Yamada was the top hitter of the season, with a .361 batting average, while Bic Camera Bee Queen pitcher and JSL champion Yukari Hamamura finished with 0.65 ERA, the lowest in the league.

Australian Olympians Kaia Parnaby and Stacey Porter were also awarded in the ceremony for their performances in the second-division winning team, SG Holdings Galaxy Stars.

This season, Yukiko Ueno’s Bic Camera Bee Queen grabbed their third title in a row, with a 3-0 win over arch-rivals Red Terriers, in the championship game.
