Olympic gold medalist, WBSC Premier12 winner Hyun-so Kim passes KBO 2,000-hit milestone

The 34-year-old slugger has been an integral part of the middle of the lineup for the Korean National Team since the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

International superstar Hyun-soo Kim became just the 16th player in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league history to reach the 2,000-hit milestone.

Kim went 3-for-5 and played left field for the LG Twins in a 7-5 loss against the Lotte Giants. The Twins are in fourth place with a 28-23 record in the 2022 KBO, seven games back first place SSG Landers.

The 34-year-old Kim is in his fifth season with the LG Twins. He previously played from 2006 to 2015 for the Doosan Bears. He led them to a Korean Series title in 2015 before moving to the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Kim has helped the Korean National Team win some of baseball's biggest international events, including the Beijing 2008 Olympics and the inaugural WBSC Premier12 in 2015, where he earned MVP honors.

Kim was also part of the World Baseball Classic second-place team in 2009. He starred in the middle of the lineup for Korea at the Premier12 2019 and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
