One more shut-out, USA ready for World Championship game

The USA has dominated one National Team after the other and found real competition only against Japan. The two international powers will face each other in the World Championship game

The USA finished the super round of the U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup undefeated and with one more shut-out as they beat Australia, 9-0 in five innings.

The defending World Champions wasted no time in getting to Aussie’s starter Jorja Barrett. Leadoff hitter Skylar Wallace reached on an error and made it to third on a groundout. Barrett allowed a couple of walks and a base hit to Jayda Coleman that broke the tie. Another run scored on a groundout and right fielder Jadelyn Allchin Curran broke the score open with a moon-shot beyond the centre field wall.
The USA quietly added runs in the second and in the third.

Rylee Trlicek and Kelly Lynchshared took the shut-out win to the end, sharing duties in the pitching circle. They didn’t allow a run and combined seven strikeouts. The only Australian runners reached on a couple of walks.

The USA will now face Japan in the final.
