The USA finished the super round of the U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup undefeated and with one more shut-out as they beat Australia, 9-0 in five innings.
The defending World Champions wasted no time in getting to Aussie’s starter Jorja Barrett. Leadoff hitter Skylar Wallace reached on an error and made it to third on a groundout. Barrett allowed a couple of walks and a base hit to Jayda Coleman that broke the tie. Another run scored on a groundout and right fielder Jadelyn Allchin Curran broke the score open with a moon-shot beyond the centre field wall.
The USA quietly added runs in the second and in the third.
Rylee Trlicek and Kelly Lynchshared took the shut-out win to the end, sharing duties in the pitching circle. They didn’t allow a run and combined seven strikeouts. The only Australian runners reached on a couple of walks.
The USA will now face Japan in the final.
