Prague, 28 August 2013 – Czech Baseball Association chose first Czech hosting city. After weeks of dealings with representatives of Arrows Ostrava club, CBA and Ostrava signed an agreement about hosting the tournament. Ostrava will be besides Regensburg another city where first round of the European Championship 2014 will take place. CBA representatives have been continuing in intensive discussions with other possible cities to host second part of the tournament. Decision should be made in following weeks.

“We are very glad that we have first city. Ostrava will host international baseball tournament after 5 years. I do not doubt it will be great event because local organizers have already many experience – they organized World University Baseball Championship 2008 or CEB European Cup 2009 and others,” said Petr Ditrich, President of CBA.

“Our aim is to organize one international baseball or softball event every year. We are very happy that we can host European Championship Seniors in 2014 because City of Ostrava will be European City of Sport in 2014 so we have big support from the City of Ostrava and also Moravian-Silesian Region,” said Martin Bohoněk, President of SKSB Arrows Ostrava.

Ostrava will host national teams from Croatia, Greece, the Netherlands, Spain, Russia and home team of Czech Republic.
