Panama heads to WBSC U-12 Baseball World Camp after a 40-day training camp

Manager Manuel Rodriguez said he knows the strength of Chinese Taipei, Venezuela and Mexico, and that winning early in the tournament would be the key.

Manuel Rodriguez will manage world No. 13 Panama National Team at the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup. His coaching staff includes pitching coach Elpidio Pinto and coaches Jorge Nash and Mario Ruiz.

Panama opened camp in early June with 40 players and announced the final roster after 40 days of work.

Panama will compete in group A and face world No. 2 Chinese Taipei, No. 4 Mexico, No. 6 Venezuela, No. 17 Italy and No. 26 South Africa.

They will open against South Africa at 2.30 pm local time on 29 July.

"We are aware of the strength of National Teams such as Chinese Taipei, Mexico and Venezuela," Rodriguez commented. "We scouted Italy through the European Championship but do not know much about South Africa."

Rodriguez added: "The key will be winning early in the tournament. It's just five games. You cannot waste any time."
