Potros wins Panama National Youth Baseball Championship
The historic tournament, which has been played since 1962, saw the young franchise win its first title.

Potros de Panamá Este won the Panama National Youth Championship for the first time when the 2022 edition finished on Monday.

The young franchise, which was created in 2017, needed six games to defeat Panama Metró in the final series.

Potros manager Sixto Garibaldo said after the game: “We accomplished our goal, we are the champions. Was a tough game, we trust in our guys and now we are celebrating.”

Despite the loss in the final series, Panamá Metro remains as the most successful team in the league with 21 titles, the last one in 2016.

Twelve teams took part in the league with 300 players featuring across the season.

From this youth championship Panama will structure their National Team for the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, which will be played in Sarasota and Bradenton in the United States later this year.

Panama is 13th in WBSC Baseball World Rankings.
