Premier12 Replay Series | Watch Japan, Korea in Final of 2019 WBSC Premier12 at Tokyo Dome

A totally packed Tokyo Dome exploded for the global finale between the two Asian giants.

On 17 November 2019, Japan and Korea battled at the Tokyo Dome in the championship game of the II WBSC Premier12, exactly 16 days and 31 games after the major international tournament’s first pitch in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The two Asian arch-rivals faced each other for the second night in a row, as the two teams closed the Super Round together. It was Japan who came out on top 10-8 in front of 44,224 fans at the Tokyo Dome.

“Just like any other game that we’ve played so far, we’re going to fight in the final,” said Samurai Japan skipper Atsunori Inaba. “We don’t want to have any regrets, playing together we’re going to win this game.”

His Korean counterpart, Kim Kyungmoon, said: “We’ll do our best to beat them. On our side, we expect to have our best pitching staff tomorrow, and together with the lineup play a good game.”

Japan handed Shun Yamaguchi the ball for his third start of the tournament. Yamaguchi opened the tournament for Japan in Group B, allowing one earned run against Venezuela. His second start came against Australia in the Super Round, as he gave up two earned runs in four innings.

Korea gave the ball to Hyeon-Jong Yang. Yang allowed one hit and struck out 10 against Australia in Group A and gave up one earned run in 5.2 innings against the US in the Super Round.

The Premier12 2019 final will be available for free on Tuesday, 17 November, at 9 am Eastern US Standard Time (8 pm Japan Standard Time, and noon Central European Time) simultaneously at www.youtube.com/wbsc and www.facebook.com/wbsc.
