Puebla Pericos win Mexican Baseball League, will host BCL Americas 2024

They defeated Algodoneros de Unión Laguna in the final series. Former MLB star Chris Carter earned MVP honours.

The Puebla Pericos defeated Algodoneros de Unión Laguna in six games to win the 2023 Mexican Baseball League final (Serie del Rey).

Pericos defeated the defending champions Leones de Yucatan in five games to win the South Division. Algodoneros overcame Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos in six games to become the North Division champions.

Veteran slugger Chris Carter earned MVP honours. He finished the final series with a .350 batting average, two home runs and four RBIs. He ended the postseason with six homers and a .398 batting average.

Before moving to Mexico, Carter played for four Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs: the Oakland A's. Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees. He led the National League with 41 home runs while with the Brewers in 2016.

It's the sixth league title for the franchise, the third as Pericos. Their last pennant was in 2016.

Manager Sergio Omar Gastelum celebrated his first LMB title.

The league title gives Puebla the right to host the second edition of the Baseball Champions League Americas.
